Joanna Yang, Research Engineer, PPG

Hi! My name is Joanna, and I’m a Research Engineer at PPG. I received a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from UCLA and completed 3 internship rotations with PPG before joining their full-time S&T rotational program in 2023. I’ve worked with coatings products in automotive, aerospace, industrial, and packaging industries. My work within S&T has spanned novel instrument characterization, data mining and analysis for process capability and specification changes, quality testing and reformulating to address manufacturing issues and customer needs, and more.

I am particularly interested in sustainability and data science & management, which has led to cross-functional collaborations with our strategic sustainability group and procurement teams. I’ve participated in PPG’s Women’s Leadership Network mentor circles and look forward to connecting with you all!
