Dr. Stacy Hrizo, Chairperson and Professor of Biology, Slippery Rock University
Stacy Hrizo is Chairperson and Professor of Biology at Slippery Rock University. In her role as chairperson to the Department of Biology, she oversees the organization of the department and serves as a recommending body to the administration regarding personnel, curriculum, scheduling and budget. As a Professor of Biology, Stacy has taught classes in genetics, immunology and cell biology. Her research program has evolved since starting with the faculty at SRU in 2009. Her research interests focus on protein quality control and cell stress responses. Currently, she has an active research program that engages undergraduate students in studying the effects of chemical exposure (vaping and pesticides) on human health. Outside of work she is actively involved in her sons’ activities in music, scouting and swimming with the Seneca Valley Swim Club.
